Decorative Concrete Protection
|
 |
Concrete has always been an effective construction material, but as early as the 1890’s many companies started experimenting with colors and stains and in the 1970’s, Jon Nasvic created a plastic stamp for imprinting pattern and texture onto fresh concrete.
In the years following these pioneering experiments, decorative concrete has expanded beyond its perceived image, transforming into another type of art medium using attractive styles, patterns and colors. With many projects, concrete is often customized to meet specific décor preferences while still functioning as an essential component in the building’s structure.
Stylistic concrete, such as stamped concrete, is typically achieved by employing a variety of materials and systems, either during the pouring process or following the curing process. For example, molds are pressed into concrete, while still in the plastic state, to create textures that resemble stone, slate or cobblestones usually used to form driveways, patios and interior floors.
Decorative concrete often surpasses standard concrete in durability due to the color hardeners applied to the surface. In addition to providing color, the hardeners increase the concrete’s ability to resist scratching and water penetration. Concrete sealers are also applied to reduce damage caused by dirt, oil grease and chemicals. High quality sealers reduce maintenance costs by making concrete cleaning easier, improving UV protection and enhancing color.
At Seal Source, we’re all about improving where you stand. Our lithium-based concrete sealers, concrete hardeners and concrete color systems offer unmatched protection and performance for all concrete surfaces, from decorative concrete to warehouse floors.
